The Jays took advantage of the generosity of starter Luis Gil (0-1) to take the lead in the second inning. Isiah Kiner-Falefa first drew a walk, which allowed Alex Verdugo to complete his turn and level the score 1 to 1.

A missed shot from Gil then led to the winning point, which was scored by Alejandro Kirk.

The other success for the crowd favorites came from Kirk in the third set. The latter hit a double which propelled Bo Bichette to the plate.

On the mound for the Blue Jays, starter Chris Bassitt (2-2) gave up one earned run on four hits and two walks in six and a third innings of work. The 35-year-old right-hander also beat five rivals. In relief, Tim Mayza, Chad Green and Yimi Garcia did not allow any hits to safety. The last of this list signed his second save of the season.

The Blue Jays and the Yankees will meet on Tuesday evening.
