Brittany Championship in Ploërmel
Noémie Esmel didn’t have time to say phew! While she faced Lola Casado in the final, the CPB Rennes member only spent 14 seconds on the tatami. The fault lies with an expeditious Brestoise, who managed to overthrow Rennaise in a single movement. “I took custody right away and it worked. I don’t really realize it,” said the 21-year-old from Finistère.
No more diets
Getting to the final was already a performance for someone who has just changed category, going from -70 kg to -78 kg. “I didn’t really know where I was going. I changed because I didn’t see myself continuing to diet for another ten years. I told myself I would try it at my natural weight (74 kg) to see if it worked. And it worked,” she explains.
First senior title
The Seishinkan veteran trains twice a week in judo under the watchful eye of Gilles Quenet and Florian Patry with the boys from CSAM-DPB. “It helps me to progress, especially for the guard which is stronger,” confides the Finisterian. In addition, she takes advantage of her professional activity to also work on bodybuilding. “I was studying in Brest to be a PE teacher. But I wanted to change. Now, I am a sports coach at Physic Form in Brest. I give fitness classes and I also do bodybuilding for myself,” continues Lola Casado, who won her first title of Brittany champion among seniors. And who will soon discover the level of “France D1”. “This is going to be a discovery. I can’t wait to be there,” she says.
