FX has just released the trailer for “Clipped”, which will immerse us in one of the NBA’s biggest scandals. The series will also make us follow the relationships between different protagonists close to this event.
The Donald Sterling scandal at the center of Clipped
Basketball series are popular. These last years, Last Chance U : Basketball or Swagger have seen the day. Broadcast from 2022 to 2023, Winning Time : The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty told the story of the formidable Lakers team in the 1980s. This time, it’s the other NBA team from Los Angeles, the Clippers, who will be in the honor of Clipped.
Based on the ESPN podcast series 30 for 30 titled The Sterling Affairs, Clipped will immerse us in one of the biggest scandals to rock the NBA. Its plot will revolve around the moment when the owner of the California franchise, Donald Sterling, was recorded making racist remarks.
Scandal and power struggle in the show’s trailer
FX has just shared the first trailer for Clipped. In addition to the moment of the scandal, the images show us the other subjects that the series will explore. To know the very fresh relationship between Donald Sterling and Doc Rivers, the coach of his team. But also the power struggle between Shellythe wife and business partner of the Clippers owner, and V. Stivianothe latter’s assistant and mistress.
According to the images revealed, the series will invite us to follow several points of view. We should therefore follow the characters of Doc Rivers, Donald Sterling, V. Stiviano and Shelly in turn as they face the different events of this story.
Launch planned for early June
It is to Gina Welch that we owe the creation of Clipped. On the casting side, Laurence Fishburne got the role of Doc Rivers and Ed O’Neill that of Donald Sterling, while Cleopatra Coleman was chosen to play V. Stiviano and Jacki Weaver Shelly.
Made of six episodes, Clipped will be launched next June 4 on Hulu. In France, it should be available on Disney+.
