Miami Dolphins Majority Ownership ‘Not for Sale’ Amid $10 Billion Offer Decline

Majority control of Dolphins is ‘not for sale,’ source tells ESPN, after USA Today reported that owner Stephen Ross has turned down a $10 billion offer for control of the team, the Formula One Miami Grand Prix and Hard Rock Stadium.

According to USA Today, Ross “considered” an offer that would have represented, by far, the largest team sale in American sports history. He declined the offer in order to maintain control of the Dolphins team within his family; Ross made his daughter, Jennifer, his estate in 2022.

Ross purchased a majority share of the Dolphins in 2009 and spent $500 million on major renovations to Hard Rock Stadium in 2015. Ross and Dolphins CEO Tom Garfinkel were instrumental in bringing the tournament to tennis at Hard Rock Stadium in 2019 and built the Miami International Speedway around the stadium three years later to host the Miami Grand Prix in 2022.

Hard Rock Stadium is one of the most versatile sports venues in the United States. It hosts college football and NFL games, the Dolphins Challenge Cancer bike race, a 5K fundraiser, music festivals, as well as the Miami Open and Miami Grand Prix. It will also host the Soccer World Cup in 2026.
