Next Grand Slam title for the Swiss judo world champion: In the class up to 73 kg, Nils Stump confidently won with 5 victories. In the final, last year’s world champion defeated the local Tajik Behruzi Khojazoda with 2 Waza-Ari scores. For the 27-year-old from Zurich, it is the third success at Grand Slam level after Abu Dhabi at the end of 2022 and Tel Aviv at the beginning of 2023. He is the only Swiss winner in this category among men so far.
Two Swiss victories in Dushanbe
This makes Stump once again one of the top favorites for the Olympic Games in Paris in two and a half months. He had to end last season early due to a complex ligament injury in his left shoulder. After an operation he now seems to be in top shape again.
Dushanbe is obviously a good place for the Swiss judoka: Fabienne Kocher had already won on Friday.
