Phoenix Suns Fire Head Coach Frank Vogel After One Season; Mike Budenholzer Considered as Replacement

The Phoenix Suns have fired head coach Frank Vogel after just one season. Former Bucks coach Mike Budenholzer is now being discussed as a successor.

“We said at the press conference on May 1st that we would analyze what changes needed to be made and after careful consideration we came to the conclusion that we needed a new head coach,” general manager James Jones was quoted as saying in a statement . “We thank Frank for his work and commitment.”

Phoenix signed Vogel to a five-year, $31 million contract last summer. The 50-year-old, who won a championship with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2020, led the Suns to 49 wins in the regular season, but in the playoffs the Suns were swept by the Minnesota Timberwolves.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski (ESPN), his successor will be Mike Budenholzer acted, who has been out of a job for a year after being fired from the Milwaukee Bucks.
