Spartans Fall to Gendarmes in Quadri Teams Final at International Basketball Tournament in Madagascar

The Spartans lost to the Gendarmes in the Quadri Teams final.

International friendly tournament. The Tana-ville basketball section organized several basketball events for two weeks.

Four finals dominated the last day of the third edition of the Basketball Tour, Thursday, at the Mahamasina gymnasium. The tournament was marked by the participation of a Canadian university women’s team, the Spartans. In the final, the latter, who led the score until the last quarter, finally gave up victory against the Gendarmerie nationale basketball club, 54 to 45.

The Spartans beat MB2All in the semi-finals, after their two group stage losses against GNBC and MB2All. The Canadians recorded a victory against Athletes in Action Madagascar. This Canadian training was made up of young people, between 17 and 20 years old.

Other events were organized during their visit to the Malagasy capital, including training for clubs, coaches and players, led by Cheryl Jean Paul, the team’s coach, and Matt Guynup. There was also a mini-basketball camp and training for coaches and students from the National Sports Academy and the École Normale Supérieure.

The objective of the arrival of such a foreign team is to share experiences to raise the level of basketball in Madagascar. As for the results of the other three finals, Dream Team SC defeated Saint-Michel in the N1B category, and the U14 crowns went respectively to Fandrefiala for the boys and JCBA for the girls.
