US Open champion Gauff from the USA had already done her job successfully. She won 4:6, 6:2, 6:3 against three-time Grand Slam finalist Ons Jabeur from Tunisia and reached the semifinals in the French capital for the second time.
“She is a really tough opponent,” said Gauff about Jabeur, who reached the final twice at Wimbledon and once in New York: “I had a lot of fun in this atmosphere.”
Swiatek once again put in a dominant performance. Vondrousova, who also reached the final at the Bois de Boulogne in 2019, had little to counter the 23-year-old’s power.
