Probably the biggest bump ever
Pineapple-sized hailstones hit Texas
Several hailstones the size of baseballs hit Texas this weekend. Storm chasers also find a much larger specimen. It is believed to be the most massive piece of ice ever recorded in the US state.
Storm chasers have reported unusually massive hail in the US state of Texas. The chunk of ice was more than 7 inches long, said Val and Amy Castor, who document the storms for Oklahoma City television station KWTV. They discovered him on the side of the road near Vigo Park on Sunday.
“This is the largest hail I have ever seen and I have been following storms for over 30 years,” said Val Castor. The object was about the size of a pineapple. During their operation, several hailstones the size of baseballs fell to the ground. One of them broke the car’s windshield.
Experts look at precipitation. Observers believe it is the most massive piece of ice ever recorded in Texas. The previous record is held by a 16.25 centimeter long hail discovered in 2021. The heaviest hail ever recorded in the United States measured 27.94 centimeters in diameter and weighed nearly a kilogram. It was discovered in South Dakota in July 2010, according to the National Center for Environmental Information.
