With a goal from Angel Di Maria, Argentina won 1-0 in a friendly against Ecuador in Chicago, with the Albiceleste national team preparing to defend the Copa America title.
Di Maria, named captain for the match with Lionel Messi on the bench, scored his 31st goal for Argentina in the 40th minute. Di Maria then made way for Messi in the 56th minute, but the Inter Miami star was unable to help the Albiceleste consolidate the result.
The match was one of two friendlies that the Selección scheduled before the start of the Copa America on June 20 against Canada in Atlanta. The reigning world champions will face Guatemala in Maryland on Friday.
