The Spanish golfer Jon Rahm will not play the US Open, one of the four ‘majors’ of golf and which will be held from Thursday to Sunday in Pinehurst (United States), due to an infection in his left foot, a decision that considers “the best” for his “health” but that leaves him “disappointed.”
“After consulting with several doctors and my team, I have decided that it is best for my long-term health to withdraw from this week’s US Open Championship. To say I am disappointed is an understatement. I wish all participants the best of luck.” , he noted on his official account on the social network X.
The Basque, winner of the tournament in 2021, showed his desire to return to the competition soon. “I want to thank all the USGA staff, volunteers and the Pinehurst community for putting together what I’m sure will be an incredible championship. I look forward to getting back to action as soon as possible!” he concluded.
Last week, Rahm already withdrew from LIV Houston due to some discomfort in his foot. Now, he must focus on recovering to be able to participate in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
