Matteo Librizzi: Road to Recovery from Shoulder Injury

Continue your recovery journey quickly Matteo Librizzi from the left shoulder injury that affected his entire last season.

The red and white number 13, now out for several months, is working assiduously on Campus to be back available as soon as possible and the recovery work from the operation is going quickly, even if to date, hypothesizing a time for returning to the field is premature .

How is your shoulder responding to the recovery work from the injury?
“The shoulder is responding well, the surgery went very well and we are also a little further ahead than expected in the recovery process. We’re not forcing or rushing anything but we still have the whole summer ahead of us to work on but the recovery in general is going very well.”

Have you already started any work with the ball?
“For the work with the ball we say that we are still a work in progress. I’ve done little so far but little by little we’ll get there.”

Do you have an idea of how long it might take for a complete recovery?
“It’s difficult to say now, it’s a situation that must be evaluated week after week. Every month I have a visit with the doctor who operated on me to evaluate my progress in the recovery process.”

The last year has been a very complicated one for her due to the injuries she had. What do you expect from the new season?
“First of all, to feel good physically. I want to go back to demonstrating what I had just started to do before this double serious injury, taking back the space on the pitch that this stop took away from me.”

It must not have been a simple period mentally either…
“Absolutely not, it was the most complicated moment of my career. Furthermore, I am used to always being busy, I always have to have something to do and first the brace and then the forced stop forced me into a period of inactivity which disturbed me a lot and also mentally it was absolutely not easy to cope with the weight of these months”.

He has already had the opportunity to speak with coach Mandole and thinks that in his role as Head coach he can return to giving her trust and space, also by virtue of the fact that in the last two years he has been the one who has worked the most with you players on growth individual?
“I haven’t yet had the opportunity to talk in depth about next year with the coach, also due to a holiday period that kept us away. I really hope that he can give me that trust and that space that you were talking about, also by virtue of the work done in these two years on individual growth, but then it will be up to the pitch to say who and how much will play more or less and I will stick to the decisions of the coach as I have always done.”

What do you think about Elisée Assui signing until 2029?
“I think it was an important and right move both for the club and for Eli. He’s a truly formidable boy, he has human and technical skills that aren’t easily found at his age. He has a devastating physique and I believe that if he works in the right way as he has done so far he can truly become an important strong point for our team. It’s clear, now he will have to face a completely different level of basketball than the one he has faced so far, but I believe he has all the qualities to emerge even in the senior world.”

Finally, can we say with certainty that you will remain in Varese?
“Absolutely yes, I have a contract and unless something really unexpected happens, I will stay at Varese Basketball”.
