… and then, in addition to the World Cup, she has also been nominated as a substitute for the European Championships in Sofia.
Jolina’s story is a new story – and a promising one. The young athlete was born in 2009 and is therefore the first in the cadet age group. I would like to introduce her to you a little:
What is your name and how old are you?
My name is Jolina Reinhold and I am 14 years old.
In which club and at what age did you start judo and who was your first home coach who pushed you?
I started judo when I was 3 years old and my very first trainer was Radu Ivan. To this day, he is, together with Peter Dremow, my home trainer at TSV Abensberg and often sacrifices his free time to prepare me optimally for every competition.
How is competitive sport going for you?
In addition to training at the Abensberg base, I also regularly travel to the federal base in Munich to do lots of good Randoris there.
What do you like most about your sport?
What I like most about judo is that it is so diverse. I also simply enjoy wrestling with other people ????
What is your secret to coping with the double burden of competitive sport and school?
I know that I won’t be able to achieve my goals in judo if school doesn’t work. So I do what I have to do and learn things that don’t interest me. Luckily I have a lot of friends and teachers who support me, you’re on the road a lot and need the material to catch up on.
Who is your role model on the international judo stage?
I have many role models, but especially Sebastian Seidl and Manuel Scheibel, because they started out the same way as me and do great judo. I’m also a fan of Jessica Klimkait from Canada. I think her judo is great!
Who is your favorite training partner?
My favorite partner at home is Christina Fischer. She’s tough and can easily put herself in the shoes of the training team. She’s also always in a good mood and we have a lot to laugh about.
Who challenges you the most in Randori?
It’s definitely Manuel Scheibel, because he always gets the most out of me and gives me good tips!
And what does favorite partner Chrissi Fischer say about Jolina?
Jolina is simply full of energy every day. She trains tirelessly and has a lot of fun and she is very ambitious in what she does.
And what do I say, as a national coach, to Jolina?
When Jolina enters the training hall, wherever she is in the world, she has a smile on her face. That may sound exaggerated, but in Jolina’s case I dare say: Judo is her life. Whether at the referee’s table of the host TSV Abensberg or on the mat herself, Jolina loves what she does and you can feel that immediately when you work with her. When I go to Abensberg for technique training once a week, I never have to motivate Jolina; she is eager to be encouraged and, above all, challenged.
Jolina’s first international season was amazing, five chances, five hits. Two tournament wins in Teplice and Berlin and a silver medal at the Thuringia Cup in Bad Blankenburg. Plus two fifth places in Porec and Bielsko-Biala. This outstanding record led to a direct nomination for the World Championships in Peru in August, which doesn’t happen very often. As two other strong fighters, Maya Toszegi (BY) and Katharina Kaiser (NRW), won medals and placings for Germany in the weight class up to 57 kg, Jolina has been nominated as a substitute for the European Championships, where Maya and Katharina will be fighting. What Jolina has achieved this year is something no one can easily replicate. Working with Jolina is great fun, because the athletic 14-year-old has judo in her heart and her heart on her sleeve, so it’s never boring with her!
Jolina will be fighting at the World Championships in Peru in August. This article will be published again shortly before that, but it should not go unmentioned at this point that Jolina is a substitute for the European Championships!
