Tour de France 2024: after the Pinot bend, a Bardet bend?

After the retirement of Thibaut Pinot following the last Tour of Lombardy, another renowned French rider will have his fan club during the Tour de France (June 29-July 21).

In 2023, the Groupama-FDJ rider experienced intense emotions during his time at the now famous Virage Pinot.

After announcing his retirement for the end of 2025, Romain Bardet will be able to count on a movement of supporters organized on July 10, during the 11th stage for his very last Tour. They plan to take place at the Col du Pas de Peyrol, in Cantal, in his native Auvergne.

“We are waiting for you (…) to encourage him in his region with atmosphere, music, noise and above all encouragement”, published the Romain Bardet Fan-Club on its social networks this Tuesday evening.

This call was also relayed by the Collectif Ultras Pinot. “A great champion deserves a great outing but it would not make sense for our movement to take care of it,” responded the group of supporters dedicated to the former Franche-Comté runner.

Romain Bardet was named leader of his DSM team for this Tour. Alongside him are Warren Barguil and Dutch sprinter Fabio Jakobsen.

Winner of three stages on the Tour, the Auvergnat finished twice on the overall podium (2nd in 2016, 3rd in 2017) and won the polka dot jersey in 2019.
