Every four years, Guatemalan athletes, like many others around the world, have a monumental dream in their sports career: to reach the Olympic Games. This objective, however, involves an arduous and lengthy process, which varies depending on the region in which they compete.
For Chapin athletes, the path to the highest international sporting event begins in the National Games, continues in the Central American Games, continues in the Central American and Caribbean Games, and culminates in the Pan American Games before reaching the Olympic Games.
Important
Following the recent decision of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to lift the suspension of Guatemalan Olympic Committee, Guatemalan athletes will be able to compete under the name of their country. This also means that if they manage to win a gold medal, the national anthem will be played at the Olympic Games.
Next Wednesday, July 3, starting at 10 a.m., the Guatemalan athletes will be sworn in at the Sports Palace in zone 5, in the capital city. You can follow all the details of this event through La Red.
