French Basketball’s Future Looks Bright: Nolan Traoré and Noa Essengue Projected in Top 15 of 2025 NBA Draft

The 2024 NBA Draft was historic for French basketball and the following ones should still be written with young French prodigies well placed in the vintages. The French Nolan Traoré and Noa Essengue are projected in the Top 15 of the next rookie class according to ESPN.

The 2024 NBA Draft has just finished but we are already looking ahead to the 2025 edition. A promotion that should still smell of croissants and cocorico with several French players who already seem well placed to join the Green Room (the room where the best prospects wait on Draft night). ESPN has already prepared its new mock draft and we find two of our young French talents in a good position.

Nolan Traoré, who has decided to continue at Saint Quentin next season, is very well placed with a potential 4th place, three behind Cooper Flagg, Duke’s new diamond. It must be said that the young French crack has been putting out performances that have been making recruiters’ eyes turn for several months already. While he could have gone to enroll in a university, he ultimately decided to continue to learn his skills in France before crossing the Atlantic, a career choice that rather favored Victor Wembanyama and Zaccharie Risacher before him.

A little further down, we find Noa Essengue. The young talent from Ulm is currently cracking the Lottery picks with a 15th position. A ranking that will obviously evolve in the coming months depending on the player’s performances on the other side of the Rhine. Noa had been brilliant at the ANGT Dubai in March, even finishing MVP of the tournament. If he continues his progression, there is nothing to say that he will not integrate the Top 10 of the 2025 Draft within a year.
