In the last months Kevin Porter Jr he had moved to Greece, to PAOK Thessaloniki. The player was cut last year by Oklahoma City as soon as he arrived from the Houston Rockets, who in turn released him when Porter Jr was arrested for domestic violence against his ex-girlfriend, player Kyrse Gondrezick. At PAOK the American found a second home, as he often described it, saying that, outside the NBA, he would not have wanted to play anywhere else.
The League called him, however, and in the first hours of free agency Porter Jr. agreed to a biennial with the Los Angeles Clippers.
As written by Shams Charania, Kevin Porter Jr. pleaded guilty last January to the crime he committed: the court placed the player in a rehabilitation program that he will complete in the coming weeks. After that, the 2000-born player will officially be “not guilty” and his criminal record will remain clean, at least on paper.
In his final NBA season, in 2022-23, Porter Jr scored 19.2 points per game with the Rockets.
Porter previously reached a plea agreement of a third-degree reckless assault misdemeanor in January. He is in the process of completing a court-ordered program, and once completed his plea will move to not-guilty with no criminal record.
