Training begins in Kiel – nothing special really. This season, yes. Holstein is starting its preparations as a Bundesliga team for the first time.
Gathered his team on Monday for the first training session as a Bundesliga team: KSV coach Marcel Rapp. IMAGO/Eibner
The KSV started training on Monday not on their home training ground, where major construction work is currently being carried out, but in Gettorf – for the first time as a Bundesliga club. The 58th club to appear in the German top flight moved the first session on the pitch due to the special circumstances, and 700 fans found their way to the Storks’ start to their Bundesliga adventure.
As were the four new signings. Marcel Rapp welcomed defender Max Geschwill (22), midfielder Magnus Knudsen (23) and attackers Andu Kelati (21) and Phil Harres (22), who, like captain Lewis Holtby and co., were greeted with a guard of honor from the fans.
Four new players who have one thing in common: they are not yet “finished” players, but professionals with development potential. Holstein would like to have a first-league player in the left wing position, but their ideal candidate does not seem to be feasible: last season, Kiel loaned Tom Rothe from BVB, but the 19-year-old has developed so well with four goals and ten assists that another signing is almost impossible, even if the KSV officials are trying to get him.
