Alcaraz Dominates Tiafoe in Epic Wimbledon Battle, Sinner Shines, Gauff Advances, and Czech Doubles Teams Face Mixed Results

The long even match between Alcaraz and Tiafoe broke in the tie-break of the fourth set, in which the Spaniard won the opening five points and finally won it 7:2. In the fifth set, the 21-year-old favorite won five games in a row from 0:1 and ended the match with a clean game. Thanks to this, he improved his balance in the fifth set at grand slams to 12:1.

Tiafoe failed to avenge the five-set semi-final of last year’s US Open, where Alcaraz won his first Grand Slam title. After last year’s triumph at Wimbledon, he also dominated this year’s French Open and became the youngest tennis player to win the “big four” tournament on all three surfaces.

Sinner always lost one set in the opening two matches, but in the 3rd round he handled the Serbian Miomir Kecmanović smoothly 6:1, 6:4, 6:2. The winner of this year’s Australian Open did not lose serve even once during the match, on the contrary, he himself converted five break points.

World number two Cori Gauff is also in the round of 16, and after winning 6:4, 6:0 over Briton Sonay Kartalová, she equaled her Wimbledon maximum. In all other “big four” tournaments, the winner of last year’s US Open was at least in the semifinals.

Bouzková finished in the Wimbledon doubles, Krejčíková and Siniaková did not finish their duels

Marie Bouzková will not defend last year’s semi-final in Wimbledon doubles with Sara Sorribesová from Spain. Today, the seeded tens lost in the 2nd round to the French couple Kristina Mladenovicová, Caroline Garciaová 3:6, 4:6. Barbora Krejčíková and Kateřina Siniaková did not finish their doubles matches due to rain.

The 28-year-old Krejčíková, who plays doubles with Germany’s Laura Siegemund on grass at the All England Club, is close to advancing. The tournament eights led in the duel of the 1st round before the interruption over the British pair Samantha Murray, Eden Silva 7:6, 5:4. Siniaková and the American Taylor Townsend have already played the 2nd round match and against the Australian-French pair Olivia Gadecká and Elixane Lechemia they have a 2:1 advantage in the first set.

Krejčíková and Siegemund erased a 2:4 loss in the first set, took the set to a shortened game and won it clearly 7:1. In the second act, the Czech-German duo took a 4:1 lead after two breaks. The British women equalized, at 5:4 for Krejčíková and Siegemundová, but the duel was interrupted due to rain.

Krejčíková is also the only Czech in the game in singles. On Saturday, she will compete for a place in the round of 16 with the Spanish Jessica Bouzasová, who knocked out last year’s champion Markéta Vondroušová in the 1st round.
