The long list of entrants for the competitions of the 2024 Eje Cafetero Youth Paranational Games was made up of 158 athletes registered by Indervalle. They will be accompanied by 75 people including technical and support staff.
In the national competition, the Valle del Cauca players will debut in 12 of the 15 sports disciplines that will be in competition, such as visual judo, wheelchair basketball, boccia, para swimming, para powerlifting, PC football, wheelchair tennis, para cycling, para table tennis, para athletics, 5-a-side football and para badminton.
Expectations are high on the 1st National and Paranational Youth Games, Eje Cafetero 2024, because in addition to being the first version of these sporting events, they are the competitions in which the goal is to promote and guarantee generational change.
“We continue to work together so that the Oro Puro Valley shines in this multi-sport event, and we go down in history as the first champions of this important sporting competition; that is the request and the commitment we have made with our governor Dilian Francisca Toro, strengthening and showcasing the sports reserve of the department,” said the manager of Indervalle, Ana Milena Orozco, recalling the department’s support for the sporting events as a sub-venue, hosting disciplines such as sailing, canoeing and rowing, which will be practiced in Lake Calima; surfing, in Buenaventura, and softball, baseball and cycling, in Cali.
Brandon Camilo Arboleda, a para powerlifting qualifier, expressed the importance of being able to participate and said that “we have prepared ourselves to reach this important sporting event, because it serves as a path and training to one day achieve the greatest dream of all para athletes: the Paralympics. I also appreciate the support of the Valle del Cauca Governorate, Indervalle and our coaches, who have always supported us.”
It should be noted that Valle del Cauca presented the long list for competitions in conventional sports with 1,358 athletes.
