NBA In-Season Tournament Returns: Tough Competition in Group C for 2024-25 Edition

After an encouraging first edition, the NBA In-Season Tournament is back. The groups for the 2024-25 edition of this NBA Cup have already been drawn and spoiler, Group C of the Western Conference is rather tough!

The Los Angeles Lakers will put their title on the line. The NBA has announced the return of its mid-season competition, the NBA Cup. The format remains the same: three groups of five teams per Conference will compete in games that will count towards the regular season. The top three and the best second-place finisher will meet for the “Conference semifinals”. The end of the competition will be held with single-elimination games.

The groups for this 2024-25 edition were drawn by lot taking into account the results of the last regular season:

Eastern Conference:

Group A: New York Knicks, Orlando Magic, Philadelphia Sixers, Brooklyn Nets, Charlotte Hornets

Group B: Milwaukee Bucks, Indiana Pacers, Miami Heat, Toronto Raptors, Detroit Pistons

Group C: Boston Celtics, Cleveland Cavaliers, Chicago Bulls, Atlanta Hawks, Washington Wizards

Western Conference:

Group A: Minnesota Timberwolves, Los Angeles Clippers, Sacramento Kings, Houston Rockets, Portland Trail Blazers

Group B: Oklahoma City Thunder, Phoenix Suns, Los Angeles Lakers, Utah Jazz, San Antonio Spurs

Group C: Denver Nuggets, Dallas Mavericks, New Orleans Pelicans, Golden State Warriors, Memphis Grizzlies

The groups are set for the Emirates NBA Cup 2024, as revealed tonight on ESPN.

While many groups are tough, the Western Conference C is particularly striking. With the Warriors having a good summer, Dejounte Murray joining the Pelicans and Ja Morant returning from injury, all teams look more than competitive.

Who will succeed LeBron James and his gang?
