Puerto Rico’s Iconic Cursive Letters Absent from Paris 2024 Olympic Basketball Uniforms

The iconic cursive letters spelling out “Puerto Rico” on the chest of the “Magnificent 12” will not be present at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

The men’s national basketball team played its first friendly match on Tuesday on the road to the Olympics against a Greece team without star player Giannis Antetokounmpo.

In addition to the painful start that the Greeks made in the last period to score the 67-65 victory, one aspect of the game that remained etched in the minds of the Puerto Ricans who saw the game was the new uniforms that the national team wore.

And the thing is that on the chests of the Puerto Rican basket players there was not that famous “Puerto Rico” in cursive and the single star on the sides. Instead, the name of the island was written in block letters and there was only a line on the sides that merged into the colors white, blue and red.

The president of the Basketball Federation (FBPUR), Yum Ramos, confirmed to Primera Hora that these new reports will be the ones that both Puerto Rican teams will use in Paris 2024.

According to Ramos, the change of clothing was designed by Nike, the company that designs the uniforms of the Puerto Rican quintets, since last year.

Likewise, the president of the FBPUR assured that for the moment both national teams will wear this new uniform in the commitments they have after the Olympic Games.
