South Jeolla Province Governor Sends Letters of Support to Athletes Participating in 2024 Paris Olympics

The Jeonnam team participating in the upcoming Paris Olympics includes modern pentathlete Seo Chang-wan (Armed Forces Athletic Corps), archer Nam Su-hyeon (Suncheon City Hall), badmintonist Jeong Na-eun (Hwasun County Office), fencing player Choi Se-bin (Jeollanam-do Provincial Office), boxer Im Ae-ji (Hwasun County Office), and track and field athlete Kim Jang-woo (Armed Forces Athletic Corps).

In particular, Seo Chang-wan, a modern pentathlete, is expected to win a gold medal at this Olympics after winning two gold medals at the ‘2024 International Modern Pentathlon Federation World Championships’. Nam Su-hyeon, an archer, is aiming for a record-breaking 10 consecutive Olympic women’s team event wins.

Also, badminton player Ahn Se-young (Samsung Life Insurance), originally from Naju, will go after the gold medal at the Hangzhou Asian Games last year, while shooting player Lee Bo-na (Busan City Hall) from Shinan and swimming player Kim Min-seop (Dokdo Sports Team) from Yeosu will also be on the Paris stage.

Governor Kim Young-rok sent a letter of encouragement, saying, “I would like to give a round of applause and warm encouragement to the athletes who have worked hard to hone their skills,” and “I hope that the valuable efforts they have made in preparing for the Olympics will bear good fruit.”

He continued, “Jeonnam will firmly support the athletes who will bring honor to Jeonnam so that they can perform with even greater pride,” and “I hope that they will perform to their best in the upcoming Paris Olympics in top condition, and we will cheer them on with all our hearts, gathering the hearts of all Jeonnam residents.”

The 2024 Paris Olympics will begin on the 26th. Over 10,000 athletes from 206 countries will participate in 32 events and a total of 329 games. Korea will send a team of 262 athletes (144 athletes and 118 coaches) to participate in 22 events.
