Cory Joseph Signs Two-Year Deal with Orlando Magic: Bringing Experience and Leadership to the Young Team

We got some news on Cory Joseph! The Canadian was without a contract since his departure from Golden State at the end of last season, but CoJo will bounce back in Florida, and more precisely at the Magic for the next two seasons.

Still some experience in Orlando thanks to the 32-year-old point guard. NBA Champion in 2014 with the Spurs, Cory Joseph arrives at the Magic for two years. Having only played 26 games for an average of 2.4 points in the Bay last season, he should not play much but will bring even more experience to a very young and ambitious group, but which may lack parents in the locker room (especially since Joe Ingles left for Minnesota). The point guard, a native of Ontario, played for the Spurs, Raptors, Pacers, Kings, Pistons, and then the Warriors. The Magic will therefore be his seventh NBA franchise. The second year is a team option and the amount has not been leaked.

Cory Joseph will likely play a mentor role on the Florida roster. A respected veteran in a locker room, he should be the third point guard in Jamahl Mosley’s hierarchy behind Jalen Suggs and Anthony Black, or even Cole Anthony if he is used in that position. He will be the only thirty-something on the team with Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, freshly arrived from Denver, the only other NBA Champion in the group. CoJo takes the fifteenth and final spot on the Magic roster, which officially signs the Markelle Fultz’s adventure in Orlando ends. The latter could well join a contender in the future.

With this arrival, the Magic officially completes its roster for next season and brings in an experienced leader who can help out if needed. He’s obviously not going to play 35 minutes per game, but his contribution to the locker room could do Mickey some good.
