According to local Indonesian media reports, two weeks after Zhang Zhijie’s sudden death, officials of the Indonesian Badminton Association said they had given up waiting and withdrew the team handling the Zhang Zhijie incident.
Since Zhang Zhijie’s sudden death earlier this month, his body has never been properly disposed of and has been kept in the hospital where he died.
On the 14th of this month, Indonesian media interviewed an official from the Indonesian Badminton Association, who admitted that they were no longer waiting for the decision of Zhang Zhijie’s family and had withdrawn the team handling the Zhang Zhijie incident.
The official said they had a verbal conversation with the Chinese side, and basically they said they initially waited until Saturday, but eventually extended it to Sunday (14th). So by 12 noon on the 14th, they had said goodbye to Zhang Zhijie’s family and the Chinese Badminton Association because they had a lot of things to do.
They believe that the help they can provide is the greatest, and if Zhang Zhijie’s body needs to be transported back to China later, they are willing to provide assistance and pay for the flight costs.
They have conveyed their decision to Zhang Zhijie’s family and the Chinese Badminton Association, but Zhang Zhijie’s family and the Chinese Badminton Association have not responded to them.
A doctor from the hospital told reporters that Zhang Zhijie’s body is currently in the hospital’s cold storage room and is still well preserved.
