European Champion Marc Cucurella’s Hair Transformation Raises Eyebrows

Marc Cucurella did not want to cut his hair after the European Championship triumph, but changing his hairstyle was still up for debate.

At the European Championships in Germany, Marc Cucurella attracted the displeasure of DFB fans after his handball, although he was not responsible for the referee not awarding a penalty. Now the Spanish European champion is attracting attention again: with his red-dyed hair. On Friday, he posted a picture on Instagram showing his new curly hair. “As promised, here is the redemption of the debt,” he wrote underneath.

The action was part of an advertising campaign for the manufacturer Garnier. While the tournament was still in progress, Cucurella’s girlfriend had already revealed that the 25-year-old had made a promise in the event of the European Championship triumph: “Marc had promised somewhere that he would dye his hair red.”

He once announced the plan on the Spanish podcast “El Partidazo de Cope”. Now he has done it. Cucurella also responded openly to the question of whether he would let his teammates cut his hair: “I would let my hair be cut. But my girlfriend would kill me for it.” She likes his hair the way it is, Cucurella continued.

However, a completely different person played a decisive role in his curly hair. “As a child, your mother decides what your hairstyle should look like,” Cucurella told the Spanish newspaper “AS” some time ago. She liked her hair just like that, “so I played football with it and I got on well. People recognized me, so I let it grow,” said Cucurella.
