Querétaro Athletes Ready to Shine at the Olympic Games

The Olympic Games will be inaugurated this coming Friday and the athletes are getting closer to starting their activities. Within the Mexican delegation, there will be five athletes who will represent the state of Querétaro, these are: Carlos Javier Rojas, Alegna González, Tonatiú López, Erick Portillo and Patricia Valle; all of them will make up the Olympic line that will represent the country in the most important sporting event of the year, a competition that will host the top representatives of each federated sport at a global level.

The first to begin activities will be the archer, Javier Rojas, who will open the calendar of Queretaro’s performance on July 29th with the archery discipline in the recurve bow team competition. Let us remember that Javier, along with his team, have just won first place in their last international competition that qualified them for these games.

The second to begin activities will be Alegna González, a race walker and the second Mexican to qualify for the summer event. She will compete in the 20 km walk event on August 1, in addition to having a second participation in the mixed relay marathon on the 7th of the same month. González already has Olympic experience, as she achieved a valuable fifth place in Tokyo 2020 in the 20 km.

Middle-distance runner Tonatiú López will compete in the 800 m event on August 6, while four days later his teammate Erick Portillo will compete in the high jump. It is worth mentioning that both athletes achieved their qualification through the World Athletics ranking in July of this year.

Finally, Querétaro will also have participation in the Paralympic Games, with the para swimmer, Patricia Valle, who will be in charge of closing the activity for the entity in three events from September 2 to 4 respectively, which are: 50 m women’s backstroke S3, 100 m women’s freestyle S3 and 50 m women’s breaststroke SB3. Remember that Patricia already has multiple medals in different games in which she has participated, being a historical reference of adapted sport in our country.
