Before the start: First there was talk of 94 boats, now there are supposed to be 85. Perhaps one or two athletes have cancelled at short notice. The DOSB wants to get “150 athletes” on the water. I’ll count them for you right away!
Before the start: Eight minutes until it officially starts! I quickly grab a spaghetti ice cream from the freezer.

before the start: What can we expect tomorrow? Well, apart from this blog, in which I will keep you up to date from midday onwards on everything (un)interesting about the games? 14 sets of medals will be awarded, including the two individual time trials in road cycling, judo, fencing, skateboarding and rugby. The highlights from a German perspective:
from 11:08 a.m. the first gold of the games will be awarded in shooting (mixed, air rifle 10m) at 1:30 p.m. it’s the basketball players around Dennis Schröder’s turn, they’ll face outsider Japan at 7 p.m. it’s the handball players’ turn, there’s the first tough test against Sweden Angelique Kerber will be allowed to play on the center court of Roland Garros in the last tournament of her career. Her match is scheduled as the fourth and is expected at around 8:30 p.m. The swimming events will start at around 8:30 a.m. According to the official program, the men’s 400 meter freestyle with gold favorite Lukas Märtens will be at 8:42 p.m.

Before the start: You’d better get some chips and lemonade beforehand if you don’t want to miss the German team: Greece will start as usual, followed by the IOC refugee team in second place. But then “Allemagne” comes in fifth place, because the alphabet in the national language decides the order. Afghanistan, Afrique du Sud, Albanie and Andorre are on boat three – and so is Germany!
Before the start: The two German flag bearers are currently being interviewed on ARD, judoka Anna-Maria Wagner and NBA star Dennis Schröder. Nervousness and anticipation reign, because they are about to board the ship. We also learn that there was no rehearsal and that they will only get their flags on board.
before the start: I am also excited to see what pomp, dance and drama will be offered during the opening ceremony. Céline Dion is supposed to perform, there will be dancing, singing, and who knows what else. This gives me the chance to remember my favorite performance. That was twelve years ago, in 2012 in London:
