Mike Krack has worked with Sebastian Vettel at BMW Sauber and Aston Martin. There has long been speculation in Formula 1 that he could switch to the future Audi factory team.

The former Formula 1 team boss of Sebastian Vettel at Aston Martin, Mike Krack (52), has rejected speculation about a move to the future Audi factory team. “I have the project of my life here, where you have someone who is investing so much to become a big team. Being part of that is an opportunity for everyone,” the Luxembourger told the “Daily Mirror” on the sidelines of the Belgian Grand Prix in Spa-Francorchamps. He is also only concentrating on this project of team owner Lawrence Stroll. “That is where my thoughts lie.”

Kick Sauber will become Audi’s new works team for the 2026 season. Last week, the Volkswagen subsidiary parted ways with Andreas Seidl, the previous managing director of the future works team, and Oliver Hoffmann, who was most recently general representative for the Formula 1 project.

The new project manager as of August 1 is former Ferrari team boss Mattia Binotto. Krack had previously been considered as a possible new team boss at Audi. “A lot of it comes from the fact that I worked there for a very long time. I still have a lot of friends there and see these friends from time to time,” said Krack about his connection to Sauber.

Krack doesn’t want to deal with rumors

The former BMW sports director became team boss at Aston Martin at the beginning of 2022. There he met Sebastian Vettel again in his last Formula 1 season. Krack had already worked with the future four-time world champion as chief engineer at BMW Sauber in 2006 and 2007, when Vettel was still a test driver.

“It’s of course nice when you’re always being talked about,” Krack told the TV channel Sky about the rumors about a departure to Kick Sauber, where the Italian Alessandro Alunni Bravi is currently team boss. “But we have enough to do not have to deal with such rumors.”
