Schremser Beers Surge Towards Championship Glory After Impressive Playoff Preparations

The Schremser Beers baseball players have shown remarkable performances in recent games. The championship title in the 2nd Bundesliga East is within reach.

SCHREMS. The second home game day against the Cubs from Stockerau, who played in the first Bundesliga for many years, attracted many fans to Beers Field in Eugenia. In the end, they were able to celebrate a “split” (one win and one loss) with the Schrems team.

The following weekend, two matches were scheduled against the Schwechat Blue Bats 2, also at home in Schrems. These were important victories in the battle for the playoff spots. The Beers put in a great performance and won both games.

To kick off the double home game in July, the Schrems baseball players welcomed the Angels 2 from Trnava, the previous clear league leaders. Even though they were able to record a win away from home, they were warned about the young, powerful and strong team from Slovakia. But in vain: The Waldviertlers managed to win both games, which put them on the heels of the Angels in the league table. During the break, the board also presented the honorary memberships that had already been awarded in the spring. The Beers congratulated and thanked Roswitha and Erwin Preißl, Erika and Max Zimmermann, and Gertrud and Johann Pfeiffer for their long-standing commitment to the “Eugenia Leisure Club” and the associated path paving for baseball in Schrems.

Farewell to Swanson

On the penultimate match day of the regular season of the 2nd Bundesliga East, the Beers hosted the farm team of the Bundesliga club Vienna Wanderers. In the first half of the season, they suffered two defeats away from home, so revenge was called for in front of their own fans. At the same time, these were Jerry Slayden Swanson’s last two games for the Schremser, as he is returning to the USA after a three-month stay. With another two wins, the Beers moved to the top of the table.

In order to be prepared for the playoffs and the fight for the championship title, Justin Rishi Nathasingh from California will support the Schremser as pitcher in the final games of the season.

It’s off to the playoffs

The last match day of the regular season took the Beers to their division rivals, the Cubs, in Stockerau. In the first half of the season there was a split, which was also the minimum goal for the away game. In the first game of the day, the Schrems baseball players suffered a bitter defeat. In the second game, newcomer Justin Rishi Nathasingh from California took the mound for the Beers for the first time. Three days after his arrival from Los Angeles, he delivered a dominant performance with numerous strikeouts and good fielding in defense. The game ended in a win for the Beers.

The Beers are now preparing for the upcoming playoffs over the next three weeks, in which they will fight for the championship in the 2nd Bundesliga over three match days with two games each (doubleheader). The draw resulted in two home games and one away game for the Waldviertlers.

The playoff dates are: Saturday, August 17, 2024 (Beers vs Feldkirch Cardinals, Schrems / Beers Field); Saturday, August 24, 2024 (Beers vs Attnang Athletics, Attnang-Puchheim / Athletics Ballpark) and Sunday, September 1, 2024 (Beers vs Vienna Metrostars 2, Schrems / Beers Field). The respective start times will be announced in due course.

Summer Camp

From July 30 to August 1, the “Beers Summer Camp 2024” will also take place at Beers Field in Eugenia, where the youth team, the Beers Juniors, will train on three intensive training days for the upcoming games as part of the “Woodquarter Series” in late August and September.
