Paris 2024 Olympics, triathlon: “I’m still very happy”, Emma Lombardi positive after her 4th place

She is aware of having participated in an exceptional race. Emma Lombardi finished 4th in the Olympic triathlon held in and around the Seine, in a magnificent setting. Which somewhat alleviated her disappointment of having finished 4th, 6 seconds from the podium in a race won by Cassandre Beaugrand. She confided in the heat of the moment just after the finish on the Pont Alexandre III.

How did you feel in this race?

EMMA LOMBARDI. I felt good the whole race, it’s a complete race, I felt good all the way, I’m at the front from start to finish. It was a bit lacking at the end. I’m still very happy. These are my first Games. I couldn’t have dreamed of anything better.

Is there a bit of disappointment in falling so close to the podium?

Of course, 4th… I’m disappointed to miss out on a medal by so little. But it’s still an exceptional race with a crazy crowd. For my first Games, I achieved my goals. I couldn’t have done better, that’s how it is.

Is there still an opportunity to bounce back with the mixed relay?

I still have time after. But it takes a little more time for the emotion to subside. There is still the relay. I hope it will be an equally beautiful race.

What did you think of the swimming conditions in the Seine?

It’s true that there was a lot of current. We had to manage the return leg well. There was a very strong current, we had to be very well positioned and be careful where we stood so as not to get trapped, because we could quickly lose time. We had to be very vigilant.

How did you manage the racing conditions on the bike?

The idea is to look at what is happening, where things are moving, and to adapt to the racing conditions.

Were you able to see Cassandre Beaugrand at the finish line?

We saw each other quickly, but we’ll have time to see each other later!
