U22 European Softball Championship 2024: Teams, Schedule, and Key Details for Kutno, Poland Tournament

The U22 European Softball Championship will take place in Kutno, Poland, from August 5 to 10, 2024. A total of 16 nations will take part in the tournament, with the best eight teams from the previous European Championship – including Germany (2022 = 6th place) – qualifying directly for the second round.

In the first round, eight nations compete against each other, divided into two groups (Group A: Austria, Belgium, Croatia and Finland; Group B: Denmark, Israel, Poland and Switzerland). The two group winners qualify for the second round.

Germany starts in Group X together with France, Great Britain, Italy and the winner of Group A. The German team will face France on August 5th at 11:15 a.m., the winner of Group A on August 6th at 7 p.m., Great Britain on August 7th at 1:30 p.m. and Italy on August 7th at 6 p.m. In Group Y, the Czech Republic, Ireland, the Netherlands, Ukraine and the winner of Group B will face each other at the same time.

The first, second and third placed teams from Groups X and Y qualify for the third round. The games will take place on August 8th and 9th. The tournament ends on August 10th with the match for third place (2:00 p.m.) and the final (5:00 p.m.).

All teams eliminated during the tournament compete against each other in the placement rounds. The schedule, results and statistics can be found on the official WBSC Europe website. All games are broadcast via a paid live stream on softballeurope.tv.

National coach Udo Dehmel has nominated 17 players for the tournament. The coaching staff includes assistant coaches Theresa Held, Celina Mac Kenzie, Claudia Volkmann and Markus Weil as well as athletic trainer Kilian Borjans and sports psychology consultant Almuth Jennert.
