Sucic moves from Salzburg to Spain

It had been looming for some time, and since Thursday evening the departure of attacker Luka Sucic from runner-up Red Bull Salzburg has been confirmed. The 21-year-old Croatian’s new club is the Spanish first division club Real Sociedad from San Sebastian. The Basques introduced the Linz native as a new signing on social media with a photo captioned “He’s here”. Confirmation from Salzburg was still pending late in the evening.

For the Bulls, it is the next million-dollar departure one day after the transfer of central defender Strahinja Pavlovic to AC Milan. Croatia’s team player, who joined Salzburg’s youth team in 2016 and played 128 games (18 goals, 19 assists) for the senior team, played in all group matches at the European Championship in June. At Real Sociedad, he is likely to be a replacement for Mikel Merino, who is being linked with Arsenal.

Sucic might not be the last notable departure from Salzburg in the summer. Central defender Oumar Solet is also a sought-after man on the transfer market.
