ANTAD denies closing stores in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas – El Sol de México

The National Association of Self-Service and Department Stores (ANTAD) denied on Thursday that other self-service stores in Nuevo Laredo have closed, as occurred with the Oxxo chain.

In a statement, the agency said that the commercial chains associated with ANTAD remain open in the region and operating as usual.

“We recognize the commitment and efforts of the authorities to guarantee a safe environment for the operation of associated establishments,” said ANTAD.

In the afternoon, the Tamaulipas Security Spokesperson issued a statement denying the closure of stores belonging to the Coppel, Chedraui and S-Mart chains.

“In light of the various rumors of more closures of self-service stores and businesses such as Coppel, Chedraui and S-Mart, the general public is asked to ignore fake news circulating on social media,” the spokesperson said.

During a tour conducted today by the Mexican Editorial Organization (OEM) in Nuevo Laredo, it was observed that the establishments have their doors open and no signs announcing cuts or closures.

This situation occurs a week after the closure of 191 Oxxo stores, as well as seven OXXO GAS stations in Nuevo Laredo, which, according to Femsa, was due to the lack of safety conditions to provide service to the population.
