Armed civilians attack state guards in Tamaulipas: six dead – El Sol de México

Six people died as a result of an attack by armed civilians against the hotel where security personnel were staying and a series of chases in the municipality of Abasolo, Tamaulipas.

The Security Spokesperson confirmed the beginning of the confrontation between armed civilians and police forces on Friday night, which continued into the early hours of Saturday, in the municipality of Abasolo. It also reported the death of six officers; three alleged criminals, two belonging to the Sedena and one from the State Guard.

According to the Public Security Spokesperson, the situation began at 6:30 p.m. on Friday on the streets of Guillermo Prieto and Adolfo López Mateos, where a white GMC Pick Up truck was intercepted, where long weapons and tactical equipment were seized.

Later that night, there were clashes and in the early hours of Saturday morning, a group of alleged criminals attacked the hotel where members of the State Guard were staying, arriving aboard homemade armored vehicles known as monsters.

It should be noted that an intense pursuit was immediately launched in several parts of the municipality, in which elements of the National Defense Secretariat also participated, resulting in the deaths of two soldiers and a state guard.

Abasolo is located 120 kilometers from the capital Ciudad Victoria, bordering the municipalities of Soto La Marina, San Fernando, Cruillas, Casas and Jiménez, in this last locality authorities also reported some clashes.

These events mobilized military reinforcements, the Navy, the State and National Guard, who mounted a strong operation in search of more aggressors, while agents of the State Attorney General’s Office took field samples to integrate the corresponding investigation file.
