The nutrition of the athletes at the Olympic Games in Paris was a big issue from the first day of the games. Athletes repeatedly complained about the food. Now Great Britain’s swimming star Adam Peaty has also sharply criticized the food in the Olympic Village.

“I like my fish and people have found worms in the fish,” the 29-year-old told the British newspaper “i”. Peaty also said: “The food is not good enough for the level expected of the athletes. We have to do the best we can.”

The food in Paris doesn’t seem to be contributing to this, unlike at the previous two Summer Games. “In Tokyo the food was incredible, Rio was incredible. But this time there weren’t enough protein options, long lines, 30-minute waits because there’s no system for the queues,” Peaty said, referring to past Summer Games.

Olympic spokesman: Feedback is taken seriously

“i” quoted a spokesman for the Olympic organizers as saying: “We listen to the athletes and take their feedback very seriously.” Since the village opened, improvements have already been made. The quantities of certain products have been increased and additional staff have been employed.

It is unclear whether he will continue his career until the upcoming Olympic Games in Los Angeles. The pool swimming competitions in Paris ended last Sunday.
