Dodgers Struggle as NL West Playoff Race Heats Up: Padres and Diamondbacks Surge

The Los Angeles Dodgers have entered a winning slump and the race for the NL West pennant has tightened. The Dodgers have a 3-game lead over the hot-shot San Diego Padres.

In the last 30 games, the Dodgers team has 14 wins and 16 losses. It is worth noting that in that span, the team has dealt with injuries to Mookie Betts, Max Muncy, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Tyler Glasnow and Freddie Freeman who had to be absent.

The Dodgers haven’t had a lead that close to second place since the first month of the season, April.

The team rests this Thursday and will start this Friday a three-game home series against the Pittsburgh Pirates

They will then have seven games on the road with four against the Milwaukee Brewers. and three against the St. Louis Cardinals, both teams from the Central Division of the Old Circuit.

San Diego Padres and Arizona Diamondbacks on a roll

San Diego and Arizona have closed in on the fight with big winning streaks. After seemingly not competing during the first month of the season, they have been on a positive streak.

Since July, San Diego has 17 wins in 27 games. The team has achieved two streaks of at least 4 wins and one of 8 wins.

The Padres team had one of the best rotations in the Major Leagues with Michael King, Dylan Cease and Matt Waldron. In addition to having a great bullpen with Robert Suárez, Tanner Scott and the Mexican Jeremiah Estrada.

The Diamondbacks, meanwhile, are second in the league with the best streak over the last 30 games. The team has relied on its bats like Ketel Marte, who could be a strong candidate for the MVP.

There are less than two months left in the regular season and the Dodgers will have to fight to win the Western Division and qualify for the playoffs.
