Konami has also published its report for the first quarter of the new financial year. In the months of April, May and June, the company can look back on record-breaking sales and profits – and, as we know, it still has a lot in store for the rest of the year.
Sales increased by 24 percent compared to the same quarter last year and net profit even increased by over 43 percent. The good performance is mainly attributed to the Digital Entertainment segment, which primarily includes classic video games.
Amazing, because the previous releases were exclusive to Japan. You may not have even heard of ORE’N and The Perfect Island for Grinding (both Bowser games). Konami also attributes a good performance to eFootball 2024. The sales of the Yu-Gi-Oh! trading card game are also praised, especially overseas.
The new Powerful Pro Baseball 2024-2025 recently celebrated a great chart entry, but only in July. The well-reviewed shoot’em up CYGNI was also released worldwide in recent days. So things could also look good for the second quarter.
The second half of the fiscal year will be filled with big names: Silent Hill 2 Remake is just around the corner. The Suikoden I & II HD Remasters, which have been postponed indefinitely, have no release date yet, but could well make it to the end of March 2025. The same goes for Metal Gear Solid Delta. Also in the pipeline: Silent Hill: Townfall, Silent Hill f and Yu-Gi-Oh! Early Days Collection. Good prospects for Konami!
