How did you experience this crazy summer?
“The summer was XXL. I had an offer from France TV in November 2023 for the Olympic Games. It was truly a dream to hold the Games at home. Initially there was only that, and many things were added, notably Roland in May, on the France TV Slash Twitch channel. The ZEvent in September wasn’t really planned, I was notified quite late. This is the biggest year since I started streaming. An exceptional year. »
What was your role during these Olympics and how did you work?
“I had the role of host-presenter on the France TV digital channel, a bit like Laurent Luyat. I referred the chat questions to the commenters. My goal was to create interaction. There were also polls in the chat, on the beautiful emotions of the day, the disappointments, the predictions. The goal was to create a closer relationship with the spectators. In the morning, I did the show on the France TV digital channel and I launched it live in the evening on my Twitch channel. »
What are the differences between commenting for France TV or its Twitch channel?
“The big difference is that on Twitch, people come for us, for our personality, for our content. On France TV for the Games, people come for the athletes, for the performances, for the sport, so we are not at all highlighted in the same way. It’s another exercise. Spectators may find us likeable – I’ve actually had some very nice messages in the chat – but from there to really adoring us, it takes entire careers. I hope it will make them want to know us. »
Your role at Roland-Garros, for the France TV Slash Twitch channel, was a little different again…
“It was more match commentary, but without the images. We were in the cabin with guests, in more of an interview mode. We had Nelson Monfort, Robert Pirès… It was a little different, we brought Roland’s backstage to life with little capsules that we shot in the afternoon for the evening show, so it was very intense too . »
And then in September, you were back at the ZEvent charity event…
“It was my fourth participation after 2020, 2021 and 2022. I had to do 45 hours of streaming over the weekend. Every time, it’s incredible energy. And on top of that, we do it for a good cause. I was even more proud because there was an association called Solidarité Paysans which defends farmers during this not easy period. I have members of my family who are themselves farmers in Finistère, so it particularly touched me. »
How do you see the evolution of the streamer profession?
“She’s unexpected. Twitch, basically, are people who play video games, but we see that they also have the ability to be a host. It’s a bit the same phenomenon as free radio stations in the 1980s. Some became program producers and presenters, others left the profession completely. I think Twitch in 10, 15, 20 years might be it. This will be brought to professionalization in one way or another. Between TV and the Internet, there are communicating vessels. »
Was this year 2024 a turning point for you?
“I see it more as an accomplishment than a turning point. When we say to ourselves that we have succeeded in covering an event like the Olympic Games, it gives us confidence for the future and the projects we want to carry out, whether on France TV or on the Twitch channel. »
