Klopp gave up his coaching position at Liverpool FC in the summer after nine years. He had already announced before his break that he would not take on a coaching position for a year.
At the Austrian company, Klopp will reportedly be strategically responsible for the international network of all Red Bull football clubs. These include RB Leipzig, Salzburg, the New York Red Bulls, Bragantino (Brazil) and Omiya Ardija (Japan). Red Bull has also acquired shares in the English club Leeds United. Klopp should therefore help to further develop the playing philosophy and bring in his expertise and network in scouting and in the selection of coaches and talent. According to the Bildnewspaper, Klopp will work in a “superior role” and not in day-to-day business.
As Sky writes, the contract should also contain an exit clause in the event that the German Football Association wants Klopp as national coach. The current DFB coach Julian Nagelsmann has a contract until after the 2026 World Cup.
On Tuesday, Klopp received the Order of Merit of the State of Baden-Württemberg for his social commitment outside of sport and his work against racism. It was the second honor within just a week after he had already received the Federal Cross of Merit from Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier.
