TSG Hoffenheim – Smart new Managing Director Sport – Sport

Desired solution Andreas Schicker is the new sports director at TSG 1899 Hoffenheim. Together with chairman Markus Schütz and Frank Briel (finance), the 38-year-old Austrian will form the management of the Bundesliga football club. “It stands for exceptional quality work and therefore success. The conversations with him were characterized by a high level of professionalism and trust,” said the first chairman of the eV and majority shareholder of Fußball-GmbH, Jörg Albrecht.

Long-time patron Dietmar Hopp also welcomed the choice. “Andreas Schicker stands for a clear playing philosophy and has earned an excellent reputation in the industry in recent years thanks to his skilful transfers of young talent. We are happy to have won him for TSG Hoffenheim,” said the TSG shareholder.

Schicker most recently played for Austrian champions Sturm Graz. Within a few years, he worked his way up from chief scout and video analyst to managing director of sports in May 2020. Since then, Graz came second in the championship in 2022 and 2023, won the cup for the first time in 2023 and the double last season. Graz also qualified for the Champions League. The German Bundesliga was always a goal for him, something he worked towards. “It’s even nicer that my move to TSG worked out,” said Schicker. Hoffenheim is an exciting club with a lot of potential and outstanding youth work. “I can absolutely identify with TSG’s special path, which, among other things, provides strong access to the professional field,” said the former professional.

Junior boss Frank Kramer, who held the post on an interim basis after separating from Alexander Rosen, will in future support Schicker in the sporting management as sports director. Kramer should act as a link between TSG’s own academy and the Hoffenheim professionals. Frank Briel, who worked for the club from 2006 to May 2023, returns to the position of Managing Director of Finance.
