In Theillay, Sunday October 6, 2024, the 1re company of Archers Vierzonnais, organized a 3D competition, selective for the French championship, on the Beauchery nurseries estate in Theillay.
3D shooting is practiced in platoons on a course made up of 24 targets. 3D shooting is a shot of regularity and precision. The distances are not known. The firing points are not necessarily on a flat surface and branches crossing the trajectories are not excluded. This involves a specific placement and approach. The archer must anticipate so as not to fall into the trap(s) set.
The targets are animal representations, life size, a purely fun and sporting practice, and the animals are only made of foam or paper. In this discipline, each archer shoots two arrows, in 1 minute 30 minutes, at each target, each has 4 point zones. It is possible to participate with one of these 5 bows, bare bow, hunting bow, straight bow (or longbow), bare compound bow, which determines the categories.
Shooting distances range from 5 to 30 m, and even 45 meters for free shots, depending on the categories. 107 participants competed on a 3.7 km course. By all accounts, a successful day despite uncertain weather.
