“I want to try it one more time, although I’m in no hurry. Badminton has to be something that motivates me. But there is hope, in two years, in 2026, and I would be very excited to play the European Championship in Spain. There are many possibilities that it will be in Huelva“, Carolina Marín said a few days ago on the Eurosport Olympic Planet program, confirming what all the fans wanted to hear, that he wants to return to the top of badminton, if only to fulfill his last dream.
He has been repeating this over the last month and has already made it clear on more than one occasion that it is what serves as his main motivation to force that return. His idea is to play in the 2026 European Championship, which will be held in Spain and for which the city of Huelva is seriously bidding. It would be the culmination of his sporting career, although he never wanted to confirm that it was the end. But you sense…
Marín has made it clear that he is not going to return to a World Cup or the Asian circuit and that, for this reason, he insists so much on saying goodbye in a European Championship. I couldn’t find a more iconic goodbye. “SIt would be a dream to retire at home, but I don’t want to consider it yet because it depends on many things that I cannot control,” repeats the player from Huelva in an interview facilitated by ‘Helios’, the brand of which she is the image.
Marín already sees that end and, therefore, begins to look back and see his legacy and what he can still contribute on and off the courts. “My desire is to be able to help new generations and, from my experience, contribute in other areas outside of sport. (…) It is true that my life has been different from that of other people my age, but I have also achieved unique things. I have simply followed the path that my career required and I am proud of what I have achieved,” says Marín.
Huelva, always very present for Marín
The Olympic champion from Huelva remains, of her career, with the “effort” she has made and continues to make “beyond the medals.” “I have always liked to emphasize that not only the results matter, but also the process and the path,” says Carolina Marín, who always has the name of her land in her mouth. “Staying linked to my roots is something essential for me. And carrying the name of Huelva around the world is a responsibility that I assume with pleasure and pride,” she adds.
If she is proud, she finds that support in the brand she represents (Helios) and, in this case, it is transmitted by her Marketing Director, Iker Asolo. “Carolina perfectly represents the values that define us: authenticity, constant effort and respect for our roots. (…) It is an honor to be able to accompany Carolina in this stage, knowing that we share the same vision: the importance to stay true to our origins while looking to the future,” he says.
