In a game played under heavy rain in Xerém, Fluminense drew 0-0 with Vasco, this Wednesday (09/10), at the Marcelo Vieira Stadium, in the third round of the Brasileirão de Aspirantes. With the result, the team reaches five points and remains at the top of Group A, and could be overtaken by Botafogo, which has four points and faces CRB this Thursday (10/10), away from home.

The next challenge for the team led by coach Rômulo Rodriguez is against Fortaleza, on Tuesday (15/10), at 7pm, at Estádio Getúlio Vargas, in the capital of Ceará, in the fourth round of the Brasileirão de Aspirantes.

FIRST HALF

Fluminense started the match with more possession and had their first big chance after just 7 minutes. With a free kick from the left, Leo Jance crossed into the area, the Vasco defense cleared it and, on the rebound, Isaac hit a beautiful shot from outside the area. The ball exploded off the crossbar and bounced across the goal line.

At 11 minutes João Neto had a good opportunity to launch a counterattack. The attacker received the ball one-on-one with the defender still in midfield, but took a while to pass it to Isaac, who was passing on the left, and ended up unarmed.

Tricolor continued to dominate possession of the ball, but had difficulty finishing on goal. In the 42nd minute the team had another opportunity with a free kick from Leo Jance. The full-back crossed into the area and Justen shot over the goal after catching the rebound from the defense.

SECOND HALF

Just like in the first half, Tricolor insisted on plays on the left side in the second half. After eight minutes, Isaac took off and passed it to João Neto, who had his shot deflected by the defender. From a corner kick, Caio Amaral headed the ball towards the goalkeeper.

Three minutes later, João Neto made a good move on the left, cut to the middle and shot the goalkeeper again.

João Neto threatened Vasco’s goal again in the 22nd minute. The striker received a good pass from Luis Fernando and, from the edge of the area, forced the goalkeeper to work again.

At 26 minutes it was Isaac’s turn to try to score. Justen crossed from the right, the striker dominated at the edge of the penalty area and shot dangerously, but the goalkeeper cleared it for a corner. In the next minute, Marlon tried to get the goalkeeper out, and the ball fell to Luis Fernando, who finished dangerously.

In the 33rd minute, Marlon, who came on for João Lourenço, advanced from the right and crossed low to João Neto, who shared it with the defender and shot over the goal.

In stoppage time, Isaac dominated in the penalty area and shot over the goalkeeper.
