After two days of the championship, BC Étupes occupies first place in group 2 of N3. An unexpected ranking, even a little lucky. Beaten on the Volant Bisontin field during the first meeting, the Pays de Montbéliard players were awarded the victory on the green carpet. “We would have preferred to achieve this success on the pitch, but we are not going to spit on it. Each point taken is no longer up for grabs,” recognizes Olivier Charles, the secretary of the BCE.
Because Étupes, which has been playing at the national level for more than 20 years, will aim above all to remain in N3. “We are undoubtedly the oldest team in the championship,” laughs Robin Holowka, the Erbaton captain. “We’ve been playing together for years and we just aspire to be able to continue to have fun at the national level. »
Make up a deficit in the women’s singles
The objective is therefore clear to avoid one of the last two places in the group, synonymous with relegation. The club has given itself the means by strengthening itself with the arrival of two players, Carole Valenza (ASPTT Besançon) and Laura Lambert (Créteil). “We had a small deficit in the women’s singles, which can often change a match,” explains Robin Holowka.
But, this year again, Étupes will be able to count on its internationals (Natalia Perminova, Freek Golinski, Inoki Theopilus) in certain targeted meetings with a view to maintaining their position. They were also there, during the second day, for the victory against Héricourt. With two successes in two days, Étupes has already taken a big step towards maintaining its position.
