When Kyrie Irving was left out of the Paris Olympics, many fans were offended. Despite this disappointment, the Mavericks player does not seem ready to give up on his international career.
After the humiliation of the 2023 World Cup, no one doubted that Team USA would assemble an extraordinary team for the Paris Olympic Games. The fans were not disappointed, as LeBron JamesKevin Durant and Stephen Curry, three of the greatest legends of this century, have agreed to represent their country.
And they weren’t too much, since without them, the gold medal would certainly have eluded the Americans. The King was voted MVP of the tournament, KD made the right shots in hot moments, while the Chef caught fire against Serbia and France, almost making the difference single-handedly. With their talent, they managed to forget the controversies linked to the composition of the group.
Kyrie Irving aims for the Los Angeles Games in 2028!
Indeed, when the squad was announced, many fans were offended by the absence of Kyrie Irvingwho nevertheless came out of the NBA Finals with his Mavericks. Asked about his relationship with the national team for The AthleticUncle Drew expressed his wishes for the future. He can clearly see himself in Los Angeles in 2028:
I just want to be given a chance, because that’s the culture that was created here at Team USA by the alumni from 2008 to 2016. I was trained by Kobe Bryant, by LeBron James, by Jason Kidd. These guys taught me a lot about earning your spot on the team. I plan to do it in 2028. God willing, if I’m not injured, I want to play.
In 2028, Kyrie Irving will be 36 years old, the age of Stephen Curry in Paris. He could therefore still evolve at a very good level, that’s a certainty. Kyrie Irving is not giving up on his international career, he intends to participate in the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. To do this he will have to maintain a very high level on the field and wipe out the competition.
