Deshaun Watson: “I see nothing, I hear nothing”

Deshaun Watson: “I see nothing, I hear nothing”

The voices pushing for the ban(c) of Deshaun Watson (QB, Browns) are growing day by day. The quarterback’s performance seems to deteriorate with each game, as evidenced by his last outing against the Commanders. He returned a copy of 15/28 for 125 yards, 1 touchdown and interception. He was sacked 7 times, bringing his season sack total to 26, more than anyone in the NFL.

However, he acts as if nothing happened.

« I can’t hear them (the voices) » Watson said at a press conference this Wednesday. “ I don’t see them, I’m not on Twitter. I’m not on social media or anything like that. Every time there is a story like this, I hear about it either from you (the journalists) or from people outside. So I don’t really know who it came from.. »

Ignoring other people’s emotions is definitely a bad habit for the Browns quarterback.

And Deshaun Watson also does not (or hardly) question himself, at least publicly.

« I feel like there were opportunities for us to find the open guy. Maybe there were a few things that didn’t go right and we just didn’t capitalize on them. And there are times when as a quarterback I could have misread certain things but I think that’s just part of the game, of video study and that it’s a way to improve each week. »

And when we point out specific actions to him, like when he misses an open Jerry Jeudy… It’s normal.

« In this position, no one is perfect. No one always gets the reading right. So you can nitpick an action here and there, but I think you have to see the work over the entire match. »

Deshaun Watson and all the Browns put on the blinders

A speech that should not reassure Browns fans, especially since Kevin Stefanski does not seem willing to at least try the experiment Jameis Winston (QB).

On Wednesday, the coach assured that no one is forcing him to leave Watson on the field because of his contract. But he kept making excuses for her, over and over again. It’s everyone’s fault except Watson, or almost.

“I think there are definitely times where the pocket was clean and we can be successful from the pocket. And Deshaun did it and he knows it,” Stefanski assured. There are other times we need to be stronger in pass protection. I’ve told the guys before, it’s not just the offensive line. It can also be runners and tight ends. Sometimes in the passing game it could be because the receivers weren’t open. »

And I promise, Jerry Jeudy also still believes in it, even if he sees that everyone thinks it’s time to put an end to Deshaun Watson.

« I’m on Twitter, so I see what’s being said, but that’s the world we live in“, puts Jeudy into perspective from Cleveland.com. « No matter how well Deshaun plays, if we lose, everyone will have an opinion, but once we start rolling, everyone is going to change their story and change their opinion. That’s how the media works. When you lose, everyone says bad things about you. When you win, they will all be on your side. […] We know what a player he is, what he can do and we will continue to work. »

If they say so.
