Saïx. Introduction to archery at the Grands Chênes nursing home

The Grands Chênes nursing home organized an introduction to archery for its residents and their families. This activity, carefully adapted to suit everyone, offered a moment of conviviality and discovery, in accordance with the sense of others and the pioneering spirit of the residence, although the mixed weather forced the event to take place. take place indoors.

Archery is a sport that requires concentration, precision and self-control. The meeting room has been designed to recreate a secure shooting course, with two targets placed at a distance adapted to the abilities of the residents. The initiation began with a presentation of the basic rules of archery.

With confidence, participants learned to stand correctly, position the bow, aim, then release the arrow smoothly. The three volunteer archers from the Castres club, Les Archers du Sidobre, took the time to guide each resident, adjusting postures and encouraging progress.

Residents were particularly receptive to this new activity. For most, it was their first introduction to archery. The kind attention of the supervisors reinforced the pioneering spirit of the residents who, despite initial apprehension, courageously embarked on this new experience. Astonishment and surprise could be seen on their faces with each shot, and the delight quickly set in, generating smiles of pleasure among the participants. Everyone was happy to share their experience, enthusiastically discussing their impressions and successes. These exchanges strengthened the spirit of camaraderie between residents in a climate of sincerity of emotions.

This introduction to archery is part of a series of activities inspired by the Olympic Games, which the nursing home has been organizing for several months to stimulate residents’ interest in sport and promote their well-being. This program, which has already included sessions of pétanque, gentle gymnastics, inter-Ehpad meetings and meetings with children from the leisure center, has been very successful among residents.

The Grands Chênes residence and its facilitator, satisfied with the success of this initiation, are already planning other similar activities in the future.
