Independiente Santa Fe and Deportivo Cali, Colombia’s only representatives in the 2024 Copa Libertadores Femenina, sealed their qualification to the quarterfinals of the continental competition being held in Paraguay on the last day of the group stage.
After the decisive games were delayed due to rain and despite the fact that the field was impossible for the teams, Santa Fe managed to tie with Ferroviária in the first round and that result allowed it to lead group C with 5 points.
The sugar companies arrived with the clearest outlook and they only had to not lose to get their ticket to the next phase, although the result ended up being better when they beat Santiago Morning 4-0 without problems.
That win by Deportivo Cali allowed them to secure first place in group D of the Libertadores Femenina and with 9 points they became unreachable for Alianza Lima, which ended up being second in the area.
In this way, Santa Fe will face Alianza Lima in the quarterfinals, while Deportivo Cali will have the challenge against Independiente del Valle. These duels will be played on October 13.
In the event that Santa Fe and Cali manage to win their respective keys, there will be a Colombian duel in the semifinals for a place in the grand final, so the dream of seeing both clubs competing for the title will not be possible.
