In 2014, Eugenie Bouchard reached the Wimbledon final at the age of 20 and made it into the top five of the world tennis rankings. Many experts predicted a bright future for the Canadian. But the athlete from Montreal was denied her big breakthrough in the tennis circuit due to a number of injuries.
In recent years, Bouchard has increasingly made a name for herself through her private life and, thanks to her 2.3 million followers on Instagram and various appearances as a model for Coca-Cola or IMG, has also earned good money outside of sport. But now the now 30-year-old is getting started again on the pitch. But not on the tennis court, but on the pickleball court – and how: She recently defeated world number three Lea Jansen 11:4 and 11:8. She proudly posted a picture and a video of her coup:
In the tennis world rankings, Bouchard is only ranked 985th, and in pickleball she has already moved up to 21st place. “I’m so excited, I can’t even say how happy I am,” she said after her latest win.
However, according to media reports, things are not going so well for the Canadian in her personal life. Her relationship with Jack Brinkley-Cook was reported to have ended this summer after two years.
